Notifications

Your inbox, and notifications in the browser, by e-mail and on Telegram.

Guild tells you when something needs you: someone mentions you or replies to you in a space, a guild posts an announcement, or you lose a role. Everything lands in your inbox, and you can also get it in your browser, by e-mail or on Telegram.

Your inbox

Press the bell at the top of the app to open your inbox, or go to guild.xyz/notifications. The bell shows how many notifications you haven't seen.

New notifications are listed under New, the rest under Earlier. Each one says what happened and leads to it, for example the message you were mentioned in. Press Mark as seen on one, or Mark all as seen.

Your inbox holds:

  • Role removed: you stopped meeting a role's requirements. It leads to how to get the role back. See Losing a role.
  • Mention: someone @mentioned you in a space.
  • Reply: someone replied to your message or in your thread.
  • Guild open: a guild you follow has opened.
  • Early access: your early access to a guild has started. See Launches.
  • Announcement: a new post in an announcement space of a guild you're in. It appears when you open your inbox.
  • Proposal: a vote you can cast opened, closes within a day, or has a result.
  • Referral: someone joined a guild through your invite link.
  • Level up: you reached a new profile level. See Profile levels.
  • Verification: news about your verified person request. See Verified person.

Under Notifications in your account you can switch each kind off for the inbox.

Choose where you're notified

Open your account menu and choose Notifications, or go to guild.xyz/account#notifications. There are three channels: Browser, Email and Telegram. Each has its own switch, and its own switches for what it tells you about:

  • Mentions: someone @mentions you.
  • Replies: replies to you and in your threads.
  • Announcements: new posts in announcement spaces of guilds you're in.
  • Guild launches: a guild you follow opens, or your early access starts.
  • Proposals and Referrals: browser and inbox only.

You're only notified about spaces you can read, and never about your own messages.

Browser

Browser notifications are on by default, but your browser asks for permission first. Press Enable to allow them. If you blocked notifications for guild.xyz, allow them again in your browser's site settings.

They only arrive while Guild is open in a tab, and only while no Guild tab is in front: if you're already looking at Guild, nothing pops up. Several notifications from one guild at once arrive as one. Click a notification to open the message.

Email

The e-mail is a daily summary, sent around 9:00 in your time zone, and only when you missed something: mentions and replies you haven't read, and new announcements. It is grouped by guild and space, with a link to each message.

It's off until you switch it on, and it needs an email address or Google account connected to your Guild account. Guild takes your time zone from your browser when you switch it on.

Every summary has a link to stop these e-mails. It opens a page where you confirm that you want to turn e-mail notifications off.

Telegram

Telegram notifications are short messages from the Guild bot, with a button that opens the message.

  1. Connect your Telegram account to Guild under Connected accounts.
  2. Under Notifications, press Open Telegram bot and press Start in Telegram. The bot confirms that you'll get Guild notifications there.
  3. Switch Telegram on.

Several notifications in a few seconds arrive as one message. If you block the bot, Guild stops messaging you; open the bot and press Start again to get them back.

Mute what you don't need

  • A space or a thread: use the bell in its header and choose 1 hour, 8 hours, 24 hours or until you turn it back on. A muted space or thread sends nothing (inbox, browser, Telegram, e-mail) and shows no unread badge.
  • A whole guild: use the bell beside the guild name, or Guilds under Notifications. Mentions only keeps mentions and replies to you; Nothing silences the guild, badges included.

Your muted spaces and threads are listed under Muted in your notification settings, each with Unmute.

Unread badges

The guild list shows a dot on a guild with unread messages, and a count when someone mentioned or replied to you. In the sidebar a space shows an @ count next to its unread number.
