Profile levels

How you earn renown, what each profile level unlocks and who sees it.

This page is for members. Your profile level shows how much you've taken part in guilds on Guild. It rises as you earn renown, it never goes down, and nothing you can buy changes it.

How it works

Every member starts at profile level 1, with 0 renown. Each profile level costs a little more than the one before: 60 renown takes you from profile level 1 to 2, 70 more to 3, 80 more to 4, and so on, 10 more each time.

Your profile level appears as a level mark beside your name: a small pixel building with your number next to it. The building grows every 10 profile levels, and each of these steps is a stage.

Profile level Stage Renown in total
1 Stone 0
5 Stone 300
10 Post 900
20 Wall 2,850
30 Gate 5,800
40 Tower 9,750
50 Hall 14,700
60 Keep 20,650
70 Bastion 27,600
80 Citadel 35,550
90 Spire 44,500
100 Spire, with a pennant 54,450

From profile level 100 the Spire flies one pennant for every hundred, up to three. Profile level 100 takes years of showing up. Nothing you can buy shortens it.

Guilds that count

Renown from guilds comes only from guilds that count toward profile levels, counting guilds for short. A guild counts for you when all of these are true at the time the renown is earned:

  • Guild staff have verified it.
  • You don't own it and aren't one of its admins.
  • It isn't hidden on your profile.
  • Guild staff haven't excluded it.

Renown for joining a guild and for its roles also needs you to have been a member for at least 7 days, and to still be a member when it counts.

Ways to earn renown

What you do Renown Limits
Active years on Guild 100 a year Once for each full year since your account started, and only for a year in which you joined a counting guild or earned other renown
Join a counting guild and take part in it 50 Once per guild, ever
Hold public roles in a counting guild 20 a role Up to 5 roles, so 100, per guild. A role counts once you've held it for 7 days
Show up this week 30 Once a week
Vote on a proposal 10 Up to 3 a week, and 1 per guild a week
Reach a milestone 50 to 150 Once each, 450 in total
Own a verified guild 100 Up to 3 guilds, so 300

Taking part. Joining a guild pays nothing by itself. It counts once you also have a message that counts toward Show up this week there, a vote that counts there, or a role that counts there. Until then your profile level panel lists the guild as "Joined · take part to count". Only you see that line.

Roles that count. A role counts when it is public, so roles shown only to admins and hidden roles never count. It must also have a real requirement: a role anyone gets just by joining doesn't count. Roles whose requirements include boosting, the Verified person badge, points, invites, a form or a profile level don't count either, and neither does a guild's Booster role. Each guild pays for your first to fifth counted role once each. Swapping one role for another, or losing a role and getting it back, pays nothing more.

Show up this week. You earn it with one message, a post or a reply, in a counting guild, on a page that isn't locked behind roles. The message counts once it is three days old, as long as it is still there, nobody has an open report on it, and you weren't restricted in that guild that week. A vote that counts also earns it. How many messages you write, how long they are and the reactions they get don't matter.

Votes. A vote earns 10 renown in the week its proposal closes. The proposal must be in a counting guild, must have been open for at least 48 hours, must not be cancelled, must not be your own, and must have at least 10 voters when it closes. Proposals that only hidden or admin-only roles can vote on don't count. Which choice you picked is never read, and changing your vote pays nothing.

Milestones.

Milestone When Renown
Profile complete Your profile has a display name, a picture and a bio 50
First role Your first counted role 50
Guild regular 10 counting guilds you joined and took part in 100
Role keeper 25 counted roles 100
Guild pillar 25 counting guilds you joined and took part in 150

Owning a verified guild. You earn 100 renown when you own a verified guild that isn't hidden on your profile or excluded by staff. Admins never earn it. Each guild pays it only once, ever, so passing ownership on pays nothing more.

Staff adjustments. Guild staff can correct renown by hand. The change shows in your history as "Adjusted by Guild staff".

The weekly limit

New guilds and roles share a limit of 300 renown a week. Weeks reset on Monday at 00:00 UTC. Renown over the limit isn't lost: it counts the next week, as long as you're still a member.

So the most you can earn in a week is 360 renown: 30 for showing up, 30 for votes, and 300 for new guilds and roles. Active years, milestones and owning verified guilds come on top, outside the limit. Milestones and owning verified guilds add at most 750 renown in a lifetime.

What never counts

  • Guild Plus, in any form, and pre-registration for a guild.
  • Boosts, given or received, and the Booster role.
  • The Verified person badge.
  • ENS names and Basenames.
  • Points, ranks and leaderboards.
  • Achievements.
  • Invites, forms, and being a founding member.
  • Connected accounts.
  • Reactions, profile views, viewers and time online.
  • Guilds you own or run, except the award for owning a verified guild.

Roles that need any of these don't count either. Guild Plus doesn't change your profile level.

Your history

When profile levels arrived, your history on Guild counted too:

  • Guilds you joined and took part in, and the roles you held there, count up to 1,500 renown in total. Older guilds come first.
  • Weeks you showed up and votes you cast count from up to 52 weeks before.
  • Active years count from the day your account started, for each year you were active in it.

Roles from your history still wait 7 days after your profile level is first worked out. Anything you did after profile levels arrived counts normally, under the weekly limit.

The first time your profile level is ready, Meet your profile level shows where your renown came from. Until it is ready, no profile level shows anywhere.

What it unlocks

Profile level Unlocks
1 The Stone level mark
5 The Cornerstone avatar frame
10 The Post stage, the Signal fire profile effect and one more showcase spot
20 The Wall stage and the Gatehouse avatar frame
25 One more showcase spot
30 The Gate stage and the Torchlight profile effect
40 The Tower stage and the Watchtower avatar frame
50 The Hall stage, the animated Great hall avatar frame and an accent ring on your level mark
60 to 90 A new stage every 10 profile levels: Keep, Bastion, Citadel and Spire

The extra showcase spots stop at 9:

Free Plus Annual
Below profile level 10 3 6 9
Profile level 10 4 7 9
Profile level 25 5 8 9

Items from your profile level and items from Guild Plus are separate. Plus never unlocks a profile level item, and a high profile level never unlocks a Plus item. If Plus ends, your profile level and its items stay.

Reaching a new profile level

When you reach a new profile level, a short message appears with a link to see what unlocked. From there you can put on a new frame or effect straight away. You also get a Level up notification in your inbox. Profile levels never send e-mail or Telegram messages.

Your profile has a Profile level section. Others see your level mark and stage there. You also see how much renown the next profile level needs, a This week card, and up to three next goals. The Profile level section of your account page adds your full history: every award, what earned it and when.

The This week card shows what you've earned since Monday, which roles and guilds count soon and on which day, and resets every Monday. There are no streaks to keep up.

Who sees it

In Edit profile, Privacy, Show my profile level has three settings:

  • Follow profile privacy, the default. With a public profile, your profile level shows wherever your full profile does. With a private profile, it is hidden.
  • On. It shows wherever your full profile does, even if your profile is private.
  • Off. It is hidden.

Your level mark shows on your profile, your hover card and beside your name in chat. In chat it shows only if your profile is public and your profile level isn't hidden.

When your profile level is hidden:

  • other members and visitors don't see it, but Guild staff can;
  • the frames and effects it unlocks don't show to others, and others see only your base showcase spots;
  • roles that need a profile level see it as hidden, so you won't meet them.

Changes can take up to a minute to show everywhere.

Hiding a guild stops it from earning you new renown, but it doesn't remove renown it already earned. To keep that out of view, set Show my profile level to Off.

Profile levels are never shown next to votes or to moderators, and there is no profile level leaderboard.

It never goes down

Your profile level only rises. Leaving a guild, losing a role or hiding a guild stops new renown, but keeps what you earned. The only exception is a correction by Guild staff.

For guild admins

Require a profile level. Add the Profile level requirement from the Guild group to any role and set Lowest profile level. A requirement can ask for a profile level of at least a number, never at most one, so it can't be used to find out a hidden profile level. Members who hide their profile level don't meet it.

A profile level isn't proof of a real person. Add the Verified person requirement for that.

Reward a profile level. Give members of a role gated on a profile level an avatar frame or effect made for your guild, with a profile item reward. Guilds can't give renown.

Make your guild count. Only verified guilds count toward profile levels. See Get verified.
