Pages and spaces

Pages, feeds, announcements and chat inside your guild.

Your guild's pages appear as spaces in the guild's sidebar. A page can list roles, stay open to everyone or lock behind roles, and it can also be a place to talk: a feed, announcements or a chat.

Pages in the sidebar

Every guild starts with a Home page, and it is the first space in the sidebar. Other pages follow, grouped by the role that unlocks them. A page a member can't open yet stays in the sidebar with a lock, and opening it shows what unlocks it.

You manage pages in the admin panel under Spaces & roles. Open the Space menu to switch pages, add one with New space, or change their order by dragging them in the sidebar's Spaces list. At the top of a page:

  • The audience button, for example Everyone can see it, sets who can see the page. See Who can see a page.
  • Edit changes the page's name, URL, description and cover.
  • Open shows the page as members see it, in a new tab.
  • The More actions menu has Copy link and Delete space.

Below them, the Space card sets whether the page is a plain page or a feed, announcements or a chat, and the Layout card sets how it looks. The page's roles are listed on the same screen, where you add, edit and reorder them. A role can be on more than one page.

Deleting a page also deletes its posts if it is a space. Its roles stay in your guild and on any other page they're on.

Who can see a page

Under Who can see it, pick one:

  • Anyone: everyone, including visitors who haven't signed in.
  • Role holders: members with one of the roles you pick. Everyone else sees the page locked.
  • Admins only: only guild admins can open it. Members never see it.

When you pick Role holders and save, each role you picked gets a View page reward for this page. It is the same Permission reward you can add yourself under a role's Unlocks, so you can gate a page from either place. See Permission rewards.

Space kinds

Under Space, choose what the page is:

  • Page: its roles and rewards. No posting.
  • Feed: posts with a title, replies and reactions. Good for sharing and discussion.
  • Announcements: news from your team that members read. Replies are optional.
  • Chat: a live room of short messages, quotes and threads.

Spaces support threads and replies, reactions, image attachments and @mentions (type @ to search members who can read the space, in the composer and when editing). Members get a notification when someone mentions them or replies to them, and announcements reach members in the channels they chose. See Notifications.

[!WARNING] Turning a feed, announcements or chat back into a plain page deletes every post, reply and reaction in it for good. Its roles and rewards stay.

If the Space section says spaces aren't switched on for your guild yet, the page stays a page of roles for now.

Who can post

For a feed, announcements or chat, choose Who can post:

  • Members: everyone who has joined the guild.
  • Roles with write access: members whose role has an Edit page reward for this page (in Roles, add a Permission reward, choose Can edit… and then this page). Until a role has one, only moderators can post.
  • Moderators: guild admins and the moderator roles you pick under Moderation.

Posting always needs a signed-in member who can see the page. Allow replies lets members who can't post still reply in threads, or comment on announcements. Slow mode sets how long a member waits between messages; moderators are exempt.

Layouts

The Layout card sets how members see a space. Pick a layout and it saves at once; Preview opens the space as members see it. Change the kind under Space and save it first, then pick from that kind's layouts.

A feed, announcements or a chat has three message layouts each. The first is the default.

Kind Layout What it looks like
Chat Classic Avatars and names, messages grouped
Chat Bubbles Like a messenger: yours on the right
Chat Compact One dense line per message
Feed Cards Full posts, one after another
Feed Threads Upvotes, sorting, titles first
Feed Gallery Pictures first, in a grid
Announcements Bulletin Big cards, grouped by day
Announcements Changelog A dated timeline to read through
Announcements Magazine The latest up front, the rest below

A layout changes only how the space looks. Its posts, replies and reactions stay as they are when you switch.

A plain page lays out its roles instead: List, Cards, Grid, Path, Spotlight or Compare. Customize fine-tunes the chosen layout.

Moderation

Open Moderation in the admin panel to keep your spaces healthy. It has four tabs.

  • Reports: messages members have reported. Remove message deletes the message and closes the report; Dismiss only closes it.
  • Restrictions: who is muted or banned, in one space or in every space, and for how long. A muted member can read and react but not post or reply. A banned member can't read the space at all. You can lift a restriction early.
  • Log: every deletion, pin, mute, ban and settings change. Entries are never erased.
  • Settings: your Moderator roles and the Word filter.

Moderators who are not admins don't need the admin panel: the Moderation button in a space's header opens the same Reports, Restrictions and Log for the spaces they can read, with a count of open reports (also shown in the sidebar). Each report and log entry has View in context, which jumps to the message. Moderators are notified of new reports in their inbox. You can also Mute or Ban a member from their profile card, and a muted or banned member's composer updates immediately.

Members with a moderator role can delete, pin, lock, mute and ban in every space. Admins and the owner always can. Moderators act from a message's menu: Pin message, Lock thread, Delete message, Mute author and Ban author. Any member can use Report message.

The word filter refuses messages that contain a listed word or phrase, with a note to the sender. It matches whole words, ignores case and applies in every space. Moderators bypass it. You can test a sentence against the filter before you save it.
