Roles

Create roles, decide who gets them and what they unlock.

Roles are the keys of your guild: each one says what it unlocks and who gets it. You create and edit them in the admin panel under Spaces & roles.

The roles table

Spaces & roles shows the roles of one space (page) at a time, in the order members see them. Each row shows the role, what it Unlocks, Who gets it (for example "All of 3" or "Everyone who joins"), and how many members hold it. With more than a few roles, a search field finds roles by name, reward or requirement.

If your guild has more than one page, use the Space switcher at the top to pick which page's roles to show. A role belongs to the pages it is shown on, and the same role can be on several pages.

Select a row to open the role in the inspector. On a wide screen it opens beside the table; on a smaller one it opens as a sheet.

Create a role

  1. Choose New role.
  2. Pick Empty role to start from scratch, or Existing role to show a role you already have on another page here too.
  3. The new role opens in the inspector.

A new role starts open: everyone who joins the guild gets it. Your first requirement replaces that default.

Edit a role

The inspector is ordered the way a member reads a role: first what they get, then how to get it.

1. Unlocks

Add the rewards members get with this role using Add reward: a Discord role, a Telegram group, points, a secret, an NFT, a form, or access to a page. Rewards save on their own as you add or edit them. See Rewards.

2. Who gets it

Add requirements with Add requirement and pick a type. See Requirements for every type and its settings.

Above the list, Members should meet sets how the requirements combine:

  • All: every requirement must be met.
  • Any one: meeting one is enough.
  • Some: at least the number you pick, for example 2 of 5.

To build more complex rules, choose Group to split the requirements into groups. Each group has its own all or any choice, and you choose how the groups combine in the same way. For example: hold the NFT, or follow on X and be in the Discord.

Some requirement types can be set to Should not satisfy. Use it to keep out people who meet that requirement.

Requirements save on their own as you add or edit them. The Members should meet choice saves with the role.

Why members miss it

Under Who gets it, Why members miss it shows, for each requirement of the role, how many of your members meet it, how many do not, and how many have not been checked yet. The bar under each requirement splits your members into those three; the requirement most members miss is marked Most miss, and the roles table repeats it under Who gets it as "Most miss: …" so you can spot the requirement that holds a role back without opening it.

  • Not checked yet is not a failure. Guild checks a member against a role when they ask for it, so a member who has never opened the role, or joined recently, is counted here and not as missing.
  • A requirement a member does not meet is only a reason to miss the role if the role needs it. With any of, a member can miss one requirement and still get the role.
  • The numbers are read from a sample of at most 1,000 members. In a bigger guild they are estimates, and the section says "Estimated from 1,000 of N members" next to them.
  • They refresh every few minutes, so a change you just made takes a moment to show. Only guild admins see them.

Limits and numbers

Under How many get it, you can keep a role for its first members and number them in the order they get it.

  • Only the first members: the role closes once this many members have it, for example the first 10,000.
  • Number the members: members get #1, #2 and on, in the order they get the role. Each member sees their own number on the role. A limit or held numbers always number the members.
  • Hold numbers for your team: keep the first numbers to give out yourself. Members who get the role are numbered after them, and held numbers count toward the limit, so a limit of 10,000 with 20 held leaves 9,980 for everyone else.

Press Save limit to apply it. Members see how many seats are taken on the role, for example "8,766 of 10,000 claimed", or Full once every seat is taken.

A number belongs to its member for good. If they lose the role and get it back, they keep their number, and their seat stays taken, so a full role stays full.

Give out held numbers

Once you hold numbers, Held for your team shows who has one and which are still free. To give one out, pick a free number and enter the member's email, Discord name or wallet: what they sign in to Guild with. They get the role with that number once they meet its requirements. If they already had a number in the role, they move to the new one, and the number they leave is free again for whoever would get it next.

Press Free next to a given number to take it back. The member keeps the role if they have it, without a number.

Who can see it

Choose who sees the role on the guild page. Admins always do.

  • Public: everyone who visits the guild.
  • Self-reveal: only members who hold this role.
  • Secret: only members who hold a role you pick.
  • Hidden: only admins. Members never see it.

A visibility choice applies at once. Self-reveal, secret and hidden roles need a paid plan; without one, every role is public. See Plans.

Description and image

Give the role a name and an image at the top of the inspector, and a description under Description. The description is shown on the role card.

Save

Name, image, description and the Members should meet choice are a draft until you press Save. If you try to leave with unsaved changes, Guild asks first.

Change the order

Choose Reorder to change the order of the roles on the current page. Members see roles in this order. To reorder the spaces themselves, drag them in the sidebar's Spaces list.

Remove or delete a role

Under Manage in the inspector:

  • Copy link copies a link to the role.
  • Remove takes the role off this page. It stays in your guild and on any other page it's on.
  • Delete deletes the role from every page.

[!WARNING] Deleting a role can't be undone. If you only want it off one page, use Remove instead.
