Telegram

Be a member of a Telegram group.

A Telegram requirement checks a member's connected Telegram account against a Telegram group or channel: that they're in it, or something about them there, such as their username or Premium status.

What it's for

Use it to bring an existing Telegram community into Guild, or to give extra roles to people who are already in your group. To let members into a group, rather than check that they're in it, use a Telegram reward.

Set it up

Guild's Telegram bot, @Guildxyz_bot, has to be an admin of the group or channel before Guild can see who's in it.

1. Under Who gets it, press Requirement, open Telegram and pick Telegram.
2. Follow the group or channel link in the Chat ID help text. Telegram opens and asks where to add the bot, as an admin with the permissions it needs. Keep those permissions.
3. Once it's an admin, the bot posts your Group ID in the group, a number such as -100123456789.
4. Paste that number into Chat ID.
5. Under Select what to check, choose Chat member to require membership, or another field such as Username, Premium member or Language code, and set its value.
6. Press Add requirement.

Gotchas

• If you add the bot by hand instead, make it an admin with at least Ban users and Invite users via link. In a channel it also needs Post messages.
• In the group, send /status to see whether the bot has the permissions it needs. /start repeats the Group ID.
• In a channel the bot's commands don't appear in the menu. Type them in full.
