Telegram groups
Let members into a Telegram group.
A Telegram reward lets members into a private Telegram group or channel while they hold the role, and removes them when they lose it. Guild's bot, @Guildxyz_bot, manages who's in.
Set it up
You need to be an admin of the group or channel.
- In the admin panel, open Spaces & roles, select the role, and under Unlocks press Add reward.
- Pick Telegram. If you haven't connected Telegram to your Guild account, connect it first.
- Press Add Bot to Group or Add Bot to Channel. Telegram opens; choose your group or channel and add the bot as an admin. Keep the permissions it asks for: Invite Users via Link and Ban Users, plus Post Messages in a channel.
- The bot posts your Group ID in the group, a number such as
-100123456789. Copy it. - Paste it into Group ID and press Add reward. Guild checks the group and shows its name when everything is in place.
If Guild answers "Invalid group ID or missing bot permissions", check the number and the bot's admin rights.
Check the setup
Send these to the bot in the group:
/statusshows the group's Guild settings and whether the bot is an admin, can add and ban users, and whether the group is private./startrepeats the welcome message with the Group ID./helplinks to help.
In a channel, the command menu doesn't appear when you type /. Type the command in full.
How it works for members
- They connect their Telegram account to Guild.
- When they qualify, they press Join Group. Guild creates an invite link for them, and Open Telegram takes them in.
- When they lose the role, or leave the guild, the bot removes them from the group.
[!TIP] Make the group private. Anyone who has the link to a public group can join it without going through Guild.
The admin's Telegram page lists your groups and their rewards.
