GitHub
Star a repository, have commits, or an account old enough.
GitHub requirements check a member's connected GitHub account: whether it starred a repository, how many commits it has authored, or how old it is.
What it's for
- Find developers: a role for people with real commit history.
- Grow a project: a role or points for starring your repository.
- Keep out new accounts: require an account created before a date.
Set it up
- Under Who gets it, press Requirement, open GitHub and pick a type.
- Fill in the form:
- Star a repository: paste the repository's URL, such as
https://github.com/your-org/your-repo. Guild looks the repository up and fills in its ID for you. - Commit count: set the number of commits and how to compare it.
- Account age: pick the Registration Date and how to compare it.
- Star a repository: paste the repository's URL, such as
- Press Add requirement.
Gotchas
- Members must connect their GitHub account to Guild.
- Commit count uses GitHub's commit search, which counts commits authored by the account that GitHub can find. That is mostly commits in public repositories; private work usually doesn't count.
- A starred repository must be the exact one you pasted. Stars on a fork don't count.
Examples
- Stargazers: Star a repository, your main repository.
- Builders: Commit count, at least 100.
- Veteran developers: Account age, registered before 1 January 2020.
